You'll notice a few changes. Despite my objections, the second hand prairie sweater has been replaced by a suit and tie. And along with the look the focus has changed.

Thank you. We’ve done well, haven’t we? This is great. We’ve done well.

What Ian was about to finish telling you is that Mr Lingenfelter has received 55% of the vote and I’ve received 45% of the vote, and so this is my concession speech. I’m very excited about it.

It’s been a very interesting experience running for politics. And it won’t be my last.

First of all my apologies for the paucity of blog entries the last while. Between the hectic debate schedule, practicing medicine in Esterhazy and Biggar, and the hubbub around the membership scandal, such a backlog of commentary has built-up that I haven't managed to tackle it. I intend to blog more frequently in the days approaching the election.

I’ve worked as a doctor in a few communities in Northern Saskatchewan. Two of my favourites are Ile a-la-Crosse and Buffalo River Dene Nation, also known as Dillon. Last week I went back to those communities for campaign stops and visits with friends.

In an April 2nd editorial the Saskatoon Star Phoenix characterized NDP leadership candidates who expressed concerns about the Sask Party’s urgency to develop a nuclear reactor as “anti-nukes dragging the NDP into the past.”

This week I'm off the campaign trail, sort-of, and back at work as a family doctor filling in at the Wynyard Community Clinic. While it's a challenge to have to keep working while maintaining a busy campaign schedule, it also allows me to go back and be reminded why I have taken this step into public life.

I went to the legislature to attend the reading of the 2009-10 budget yesterday.

This past week I attended the International Meeting on Indigenous Children’s Health in Albuquerque New Mexico. I was there with Dr Breanna Davis, a Family Medicine resident in Prince Albert, presenting research related to Making The Links.
